This educational presentation is designed to provide an overview of Point of Care Testing (POCT) to physicians who perform such testing in conjunction with the physical examination or treatment of a patient. Information covered in this tutorial includes proper specimen and reagent requirements, quality control, key testing steps and results interpretation.
There are two programs available for registration.
- Point of Care Testing for Columbia campus, Allen Pavilion and Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital
- Point of Care Testing for New York Presbyterian - Weill Cornell Campus
Resident physicians should register for the program that applies to the campus to which they are assigned.
Each of these programs contains six brief modules covering Point of Care testing for Urine Chemistry (Dipstick); Urine Pregnancy; Fecal Occult Blood; Gastric Occult Blood; pH with Nitrazine Paper; Rapid Group A Strep.

Course material is presented in small digestible sections followed by exam questions pertaining to the information in the segment covered. As you read through the material on the course pages, you will be prompted to answer exam questions pertinent to the material covered.
There are 6 short modules. You must achieve a minimum grade of 75% for each module to receive a certificate of completion.
The course software does not permit you to page back from the exam questions. You must be sure that you understand the material presented in each segment before proceeding to the associated exam questions.
When you have answered successfully completed the last of the six modules, your Certificate of Completion for the entire program will be available on your Control Panel.

Each registrant is given two opportunities to successfully complete each module. Resident physicians that TWICE fail any POCT module within this program will be contacted and scheduled for special training in the area of deficiency.
