Hospital staff working in programs licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) or Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) are required to meet the standards for working with patients with special needs.
Staff must be knowledgeable of:

The New York State Justice Center and how it advocates for people with special needs.

Their responsibilities as custodians of vulnerable persons.

Various types of abuse and neglect.

How to report signs of abuse and neglect in OMH and OASAS Hospital areas.

The Code of Conduct and Notice to Mandated Reporters.
Participants in this program will be given the opportunity to read the Notice to Mandated Reporters and read and electronically sign the Code of Conduct, which is required on an annual basis.

sections followed by exam questions pertaining to the information in the
segment covered. As you read through the material on the course
pages, you will occasionally be prompted to answer exam questions.
There are 6 pages of course material and 10 multiple choice exam questions. You must have 8 correct responses to receive a certificate of completion.
The course software does not permit you to page back from the exam
questions. You must be sure that you understand the material
presented in each segment before proceeding to the associated exam
questions.
Once the course has been
successfully completed, your Certificate will be available at all times
from your Control Panel.
The course does not need to be completed in a single online
session. You can log off at any point and return to the course at your
convenience. All progress made to the point of logoff is saved.
